Panama, a tropical idyll which has one of the world’s richest and most diverse flora, fauna and wildlife provides the setting for this special haven. Sitting on the slopes of Volcan Baru, a sleeping volcano and overlooking the flower garden that is Boquete, Paradise Gardens provides a sanctuary for those wishing peace, quiet and to experience some of the local nature.

Paradise Gardens features as a unique Wildlife Rescue Centre which is set within 4 acres of splendidly landscaped gardens. Started back in 2005 by Paul and Jenny Saban from England, the gardens and inhabitants have evolved in to one of the ‘must see destinations’ in the whole of Chiriquí Province.

Much of the design and layout of the gardens has been achieved having regard to accessibility by everyone including disabled persons and wheelchair access. The grounds are sympathetically laid out to provide the visitor with opportunities to see up close the hundreds of different types of plants and to discover those special little secret places ~ those hidden niches that provide interest in the most unexpected of places.

Featuring several spectacular water features, streams, fountains and pools you will also find those secluded places where you can just sit and enjoy the calming influence of the sight and sounds of living nature that comes right up to your feet.

A major new addition to the layout is the Japanese style garden which features an unusual Tori Gate, a Koi pond, waterfalls and a stunning meandering rock stream which runs beneath Japanese styled bridges. This special area is not completely accessible to those who are not good on their feet however.

When you visit Paradise Gardens, you will be stunned, amazed and thrilled by the very many animals, birds and insects that live and visit here. We feature some of these in other areas of this website. We have enclosures that house some captive birds and animals but are constructed to provide them with good living accommodation and the visitor with every opportunity to see them up close.

As a Wildlife Rescue Centre, we are constantly caring for, nurturing and raising animals that have been brought to us for many reasons. You will have every opportunity to see some of these fortunate animals and perhaps even to touch or interact with them.

Although we say so ourselves, this really is a special place and because of its specialness we provide Guided Tours by our experienced Volunteer Staff who are happy to introduce you to the animals in a very personal way enabling you to sometimes physically meet and interact with what we feel are our ‘extended family’.

The sights, sounds, colours and movement of real and living nature are here for you to experience. When visitors leave us, they leave reluctantly but always smiling, expressing their own feelings of enrichment.

Memories …. memories of a special time, so don’t forget to bring your cameras or video camcorders and take away these joyous times and experiences with you!
